Taylor tickles the twine to earn Wildcat of the Week

Senior forward misses just three of 25 shots in Chico State’s two victories

Kayla Taylor is off to the best start of her three-year career as a member of the Chico State women's basketball team. In the process, she is proving to be one of the deadliest shooters in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The senior forward connected on 14 of 16 field goal attempts and eight of nine three throws to help lead the 'Cats to wins over Holy Names and Stanislaus State, and her amazing shooting accuracy makes Taylor the latest Wildcat of the Week.

Taylor scored a combined 36 points in the two games while posting an eye-popping .875 field goal percentage. Her contributions weren't limited to just scoring—Taylor also collected 14 rebounds, dished out four assists and grabbed nine steals as Chico State improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in CCAA play.

Taylor delivered 17 points, hauled in six rebounds and nabbed five steals Wednesday in Chico State's 89-58 victory over Holy Names, then followed up Saturday with a career-high 19 points to go along with eight boards and four steals as the Wildcats topped Stanislaus State 73-61.

Taylor currently leads the CCAA with a .707 shooting percentage and ranks in the top 10 in scoring, averaging 14.4 points a contest.

Taylor and the Chico State women's basketball team head down to Southern California this weekend for a pair of CCAA conference matchups, taking on Cal Poly Pomona Friday and Cal State San Bernardino Sunday.
