MEDIA DEFINITION

For the purposes of this policy, 'media' refers to accredited organizations and individuals engaged in professional news gathering and reporting for recognized outlets. This includes, but is not limited to:
– Newspapers, magazines, and wire services
– Television and radio stations or networks
– Accredited digital or online publications that produce original sports coverage
– University-affiliated student media (including The Orion)
– Official conference, NCAA, and institutional communications staff

Freelance journalists, photographers, or videographers must be on assignment for an approved media outlet to obtain credentials. Personal blogs, fan sites, and social media influencers are not considered media for credentialing purposes.

CREDENTIAL REQUESTS

Please direct all credential requests to either Senior Athletics Communications Coordinator Rick Hoskin and/or Athletics Communications Coordinator Cayden Jones at least 48 hours before the contest in question. Credential pickup can be arranged with the Athletic Communications office.

The names of those who request a credential at least 48 hours in advance, and those who cover Chico State Athletics events on a substantial basis, will be posted at the ticket window and get you access inside the door/gate. Upon entering, please proceed to the box office, give your name and show a form of ID, and you will be given a Chico State Athletics press credential. Anyone not displaying a Chico State Athletics credential will be asked to leave the media area.

Chico State Athletics has sole discretion to approve or deny any media credential request and also reserves the right to revoke credentials from any outlet or individual whose coverage practices or conduct are deemed unprofessional or inconsistent with the values and mission of Wildcat Athletics, or whose actions do not comply with the operational guidelines of the facility and/or Chico State Athletics intended for the safety of the general public and student athletes and staff.
