Box Score ARCATA – The Chico State women's basketball team was outscored 47-19 over a 16-minute span Saturday night in Arcata. Other than that it was all good. Annie Ward hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 26 seconds left as the Wildcats rallied from 15 points down in the second half to win 69-66.
Jazmine Miller scored 14 of her game-high 18 in the second half, including the last nine points of a 13-0 run that gave the Wildcats life. McKenzie Dalthorp finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds as Chico State improved to 11-5 overall and 7-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
The Wildcats are suddenly the hottest team in the conference with three straight wins.
Chico State led 15-2 in the early going only to see Humboldt State completely turn the tables and take a 43-34 lead into the break. It got worse for the Wildcats. The hosts scored the first six points of the second stanza.
Miller stopped the bleeding with a 3-pointer. But it wasn't until the 13-0 run, capped by Miller's layup and then her 3-pointer with 4:20 left, that they took their first lead of the second half.
Humboldt State (8-8 overall, 5-7 CCAA) responded, however, and led 66-62 before Riezebos scored inside to draw the Wildcats within two with 2:06 remaining.
It was still a two-point game when Hannah Womack spotted Ward open in 3-point range and Ward knocked it down to give Chico State the lead for good.
Riezebos pulled down a defensive rebound, was fouled, and knocked down both of her free throws to make it a three-point lead with eight seconds left. Jae Shin missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Chico State returns home for four is a row beginning Friday night against Sonoma State at 5:30.
