CHICO, Calif. – The Chico State women’s basketball team continues to move up in the NCAA Division II West Regional poll. The Wildcats are currently sitting at No. 8 in the latest rankings released by the NCAA on Wednesday, up one notch from last week.

The top eight schools at the end of the regular season will earn berths in next month’s NCAA Division II West Regional Tournament, taking place March 13-16. The final regional selections will be made March 8, following the CCAA Championship Tournament.

The Wildcats still have some work to do to secure one of the coveted regional tourney slots – the winner of the Pac West Conference receives an automatic bid to the West Regional, and as of this week no Pac West Conference team is ranked among the top eight schools. The winner of the CCAA Championship Tournament will receive an automatic regional bid, as will the champion of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Chico State is back in action this weekend, as they travel to southern California to take on Cal State L.A. on Friday and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday.
