For the second time this season, Chico State goalkeeper Damion Lewis kept a clean sheet for the full 110-minutes of a scoreless draw on Sunday. In a full 200 minutes on the pitch over the weekend, Lewis allowed just one goal to earn Wildcat of the Week honors.
The 6-foot-5 junior transfer from Cal State Northridge, who has played every minute in goal for the Wildcats this season, lowered his goals-against average to 0.93 in the process.
Lewis faced 16 shots in a 1-0 loss to San Francisco State on Friday. His sixth save of the day was a beauty, denying a dangerous try, but the Gators put the rebound home with just 26 seconds left in regulation to claim the win.
He faced 16 more on Sunday and made five saves. He came up big in extra time, turning away four shots.
The native of Miami, Florida, has made 19 saves while allowing just three goals in the Wildcats' past four matches.
Lewis and the Wildcats are back on the road this weekend. They'll face Cal State San Marcos Friday at 3 p.m. and UC San Diego Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
