Junior Malik Duffy averaged 23 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game to lead 19th-ranked Chico State to its eighth and ninth straight wins last week. The forward from Jesuit High School in Sacramento sank 15-of-26 shots, including 9 of 17 from beyond the arc as the Wildcats came from behind to beat Cal State Dominguez Hills 85-76 Thursday before beating Cal State LA 87-62 Saturday, earning Wildcat of the Week honors in the process.
Duffy poured in a game-high 25 points against Cal State Dominguez Hills, knocking down 8-of-16 shots, including 5-of-12 from 3-point range. He also made all four of his free throw attempts.
Saturday night, Duffy finished with game highs of 21 points and eight rebounds while dishing out a trio of assists. He buried 7-of-10 shots, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, and knocked down all three of his free throw attempts.
Already the California Collegiate Athletic Assocaition leader in 3-point field goal percentage heading into the week, Duffy increased his 3-point shooting percentage to .488 with last week's performance. He's also shooting 54 percent from the field and 91 percent from the free throw line while averaging 5.9 rebounds per game.
Duffy and the Wildcats will be on the road this week for a pair of important California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups. The 'Cats will be at Cal State East Bay Thursday and at Cal State Monterey Bay Saturday.
