Just two months into his Chico State track & field career, Jordan Ausbie has made quite an impression—not to mention post some impressive marks in multiple events during the 2023 season. The Cupertino product displayed his full competitive arsenal at the Stanislaus State Multi, setting new personal best marks in three events, season-best efforts in three others, and racking up a career-high 6,199 points en route to a third place decathlon finish. Ausbie’s numerous successes in Turlock make him the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Ausbie registered 6,199 points over the 10 Stanislaus State Multi decathlon events, bettering his total of 6,000 at February’s season-opening Chico State Multi Event Classic, and topping his previous best (6,167 points) while competing at De Anza College in 2022.
Â
On the first day of the Stanislaus State Multi, Ausbie finished first in the 100-meter dash with a season-best time of 11.36 seconds. He also took top honors in the long jump (6.60 meters), notched personal best marks while finishing sixth in the shot put (10.82 meters) and third in the 400-meter dash (52.22 seconds), and turned in a season-best mark of 1.82 meters on the way to a fourth place finish in the high jump.
Â
In the final day’s action, Ausbie recorded one more PR, clearing the bar at 4.00 meters to finish fifth in the long jump, and a season-best throw of 42.62 meters in the javelin, good for a sixth place finish.
