During his first three seasons in collegiate baseball, Kristian Scott was a position player who pitched a little bit on the side. Now in his senior season at Chico State and converted to pitching full time, Scott collected his first two collegiate saves and posted three scoreless appearances as the Wildcats won three of four against San Francisco State to open CCAA play.
The Wildcat of the Week surrendered only one hit in three innings, striking out three and getting the final out in all three of the Wildcats' victories.
Scott pitched the ninth inning of Chico State's 8-4 win in Friday's series opener. He retired the Gators in order, capping the win with a strikeout.
The product of Bishop Amat High School and Citrus Community College was called upon to get the final three outs of the Wildcats' 1-0 win in Saturday's nightcap, punctuating that win with a strikeout as well.
Scott was again on the hill when the Wildcats clinched the series win with a 6-4 victory in Sunday's finale. He struck out the first batter he faced before allowing a hit for the first time all weekend. But Scott got the next batter to hit a grounder to third, starting a game-ending around-the-horn double play.
Scott has now made five scoreless appearances to begin the campaign while striking out six in six innings of work. He and the Wildcats will hit the road for a four-game series at Cal State Monterey Bay this weekend in Seaside.
