Prior to January 23, Haley Ison was not considered a major scoring threat for the Chico State women's basketball team. Leading up to the Wildcats' contest against Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Southern California native had only scored in double figures twice in 30 career games. But against the Toros, Ison exploded for 24 points—the most by any Chico State player so far this season—and posted the first double-double of her 'Cats career. Ison's offensive outburst makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.

Wildcats fans knew early that Ison would have a special night when she drained six of her first seven shots in the opening quarter. All told, Ison hit 11 of 23 field goal attempts against Cal State Dominguez Hills, coming within four buckets of tying the program's single-game field goal record. She also hauled in a career-best 10 rebounds to complete the double-double.

Ison only scored two points in Chico State's Saturday matchup with Cal State LA, but she still contributed six rebounds and an assist in a solid 23 minutes of action as the Wildcats downed the Golden Eagles 69-57.

Since joining the starting lineup on November 23, Ison is averaging 6.3 points and 4.5 rebounds for the 11-7 Wildcats.
Ison and the Wildcats will be on the road this week for a pair of important California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups. The 'Cats will be in Hayward Thursday to take on Cal State East Bay, followed by a Saturday afternoon tilt in Seaside against Cal State Monterey Bay.
