The Chico State women’s basketball team dropped its final two home games of the season over the weekend, losing to Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino, but there was one bright spot for the Wildcats – the play of guard Jazmine Miller. The freshman from Fairfield enjoyed a productive pair of games, coming off the bench to pour in a combined 19 points for the ’Cats, while posting single-game career highs in scoring, rebounds and assists. Miller’s impressive play makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Friday against Cal Poly Pomona, Miller played 17 minutes, scoring six points and doling out a career-best five assists in Chico State’s 93-79 loss to the visiting Broncos. She absolutely shined Saturday versus Cal State San Bernardino – though Miller didn’t start, she played 28 minutes and hit 6-of-8 from the field to finish with a career-high 13 points. Miller also hauled in a personal high seven rebounds and handed out four assists, but it wasn’t enough to keep the ’Cats from falling 70-60 to the Broncos.
Miller is averaging 5.7 points a game in her first season as a Wildcat, while contributing just under three rebounds and two assists a contest. She’s shooting 45.8 percent from the field, and an impressive 60.6 percent from inside the 3-point arc.
Miller and the Wildcats wrap up regular season play this Thursday and Friday with a pair of road tilts. Thursday Chico State will be in Seaside to take on conference leading Cal State Monterey Bay, then on Friday the Wildcats travel to the Bay Area to battle the Gators of San Francisco State. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
