If Rashad Parker’s performance Saturday against Pacific Union is any indication, Chico State basketball fans have a lot to look forward to over the next three-plus years. The freshman from Castro Valley logged significant minutes for the first time this season, and definitely made the most of his on-court time, scoring a team-high 13 points in Chico State’s 69-40 victory over the Pioneers at Acker Gym. The solid outing has also earned Parker Wildcat of the Week honors.
In 20 minutes of action Saturday, Parker utilized a variety of long and midrange jumpers, connecting on six of 13 shots, including his first 3-pointer of the season. He also pulled down three rebounds, dished out two assists and grabbed three steals to help the Wildcats post the 29 point victory over Pacific Union and improve to 7-1 overall – the best start to a Chico State men’s basketball season since 1942.
The Wildcats will break for the holidays, but will be back in action before the New Year, taking on Cal State L.A. Dec. 30 and Cal State Dominguez Hills Dec. 31 in key California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchups.
