Jessica Leek capped off a terrific 2010 volleyball season by delivering a pair of great all-around performances last weekend, leading Chico State to road victories over Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State, thus insuring the Wildcats a .500 record for the sixth consecutive year. Leek knocked down a combined 31 kills, collected 18 digs, handed out five assists, delivered two service aces and added four blocks as the Wildcats played spoiler to the postseason chances of both the Otters and the Gators. Leek’s outstanding play has earned the sophomore from Laguna Niguel her second Wildcat of the Week award for the fall.
Friday against Monterey Bay, Leek logged 15 kills and posted a .406 hitting percentage while contributing 10 digs, three assists, two service aces and a block in Chico State’s four-set victory over the Otters. Saturday the Wildcats knocked off San Francisco State in five sets, with Leek delivering 16 kills to go along with eight digs, two assists and three blocks.
Leek finished the season ranked second on the Wildcats with 316 kills, and her .261 attack percentage was second only to Crystal Trifeletti’s mark of .267. She also tied for second on the team in service aces (25). Defensively, Leek was Chico State’s top blocker with 51 total blocks, giving her 76 in two seasons as a Wildcat.
