Four Wildcats Headline All-CCAA Accolades

3/4/2025 3:31:00 PM

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – With the regular season complete and postseason play on the horizon, the CCAA announced its women's basketball all-conference team Tuesday and four members of Chico State made the list.

Seniors Jordan Allred, Meadow Aragon and Makenzi Laporte were voted first-team All-CCAA, the most for a team in the conference, and fellow senior Jadence Clifton received honorable mention.

For Allred and Laporte, it is their second appearance on the All-CCAA. Both were voted second team last season.

All four started every game this season and were key components to the Wildcats going 22-6 overall and finishing third in the CCAA with a 17-5 record. The Wildcats also earned back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since the 2006-07 and 2007-08 teams.

Laporte finished the regular season averaging 16.1 points per game against CCAA opponents, ranking fourth best in the conference. Most of her success came from the free throw line, which she led the CCAA with an 81.3 percentile. She also finished fifth in the conference in shooting, making 49.7 percent of her shots.

Aragon, who received All-GNAC Honorable Mention as a member of Western Oregon in 2021-22, had owned the best field goal percentage in the West Region most of this season. A two-time FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week this season, Aragon ended up shooting 55.6 percent in CCAA play to finish second behind fellow first-team All-CCAA selection Sydney Nelson of Cal Poly Pomona. Aragon also placed sixth in points per game (14.4) and rebounding (7.6) while finishing second in blocks (42).

Allred was one of the top finishers in the assist column, averaging 4.0 per game to place third in the CCAA. She also finished behind Aragon in scoring, having averaged 13.9 points per conference game. The Danville native ranked eighth in both field goal percentage (43.5) and rebounding (7.3).

Clifton, who averaged 11 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in the conference schedule, finished the regular season strong. She was voted FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week for the week of February 17-23 after delivering clutch moments at Cal State LA and then-No. 2 Cal State Dominguez Hills. That week she averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. She scored seven of her 21 points against the Golden Eagles in the fourth quarter, all were in the end that led to Chico State winning 73-70. Two days later in Carson, Clifton hit two of the biggest 3-pointers in perhaps her collegiate career in the end that handed the Toros their first loss of the season after 28 games.

The Wildcats are set to play in their fifth straight CCAA Tournament Thursday against Cal State LA in the quarterfinal round. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.
