Wildcats Conclude First Fall Tournament in Arizona

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The women's golf team started the fall section of their season Monday and Tuesday in Arizona at the Golf Club of Estrella, facing off against strong programs across the West region at the RJGA Shootout. The Golf Club of Estrella proved to be a challenging layout for the Wildcats, and after 36 holes, they finished in 13th with a team score of 56 over par. The course strewn throughout the Arizona desert proved a tough challenge for the 'Cats.

Leading the Wildcats was Ariana Blagrove, shooting a 7-over 79 round on day 2, bringing her two-day total of 156 for the tournament. She finished her round T-53rd after a pair of back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th holes.

On the second day, Brooke Pelletier shot the lowest round for Chico, posting a round of 4-over—gaining a couple of strokes back with birdies for a final tally of 158. She ended T-63rd with teammate Kelly More, who shot a 78 on the second day to tally a 158 for the tournament alongside Pelletier.

Cal State East Bay took home the win in the desert with an 8-over team score, posting an impressive three-under-par round on the second day, the only team to accomplish that. Texas A&M International was just behind the Pioneers in second (+12). Cal State LA, Arkansas-Fort Smith, and Point Loma tied for third at 14-over.

A positive note following the 36 holes from the Wildcats is they showed improvement on Day 2, dropping their team total by an eight-stroke difference from their first-day team score.

There will be a two-week break before Chico State heads to Santa Rosa for the Sonoma State University Fall Invite, hosted on October 2-3 at Santa Rosa Golf Course.
