STOCKTON, Calif. – The Chico State women's golf team completed the second round of the CCAA Championships at The Reserve at Spanos on Tuesday in a day defined by difficult conditions. Play was suspended for nearly four hours due to lightning before players returned later in the afternoon to finish the round in rain and windy conditions. Through 36 holes of the 54-hole event, the Wildcats have posted rounds of 330 (+42) and 327 (+39).
Freshman Gabriella Fanucchi leads Chico State and is tied for 19th after rounds of 81 (+9) and 82 (+10).
Senior Brooke Pelletier improved in round two with a 79 (+7) after opening with an 84 (+12), moving into a tie for 19th. Pelletier settled into her round and played her final 15 holes at 3-over par, while ranking among the top five in the field in par-5 scoring at even par.
Sophomore Hollyn Drennen also turned in a steady performance with rounds of 82 (+10) and 81 (+9). Drennen showed consistency throughout a long day, emphasizing that her mindset was key. She noted that during the weather delay, she focused on controlling her attitude and staying positive, going into the round prepared to handle any conditions. Drennen added that improved ball-striking allowed her to hit more greens and create more scoring opportunities, and she will look to capitalize on those birdie chances heading into the final round.
Junior Lillian Crays carded rounds of 83-85 and sits in 23rd place, while freshman Sienna Garcia posted rounds of 86-87 to place 25th.
The Wildcats will close out the CCAA Championships with the final round on Wednesday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m., marking the final round of the season for Chico State.
