The Chico State men's soccer team is coming home at the top of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) table. The Wildcats' job now is to be less hospitable to their guests than the last time they played at University Soccer Stadium.
Â
Chico State has put together one of the best road resumés in the nation this season, reeling off four straight wins to stretch their road winning streak to six. At 4-2-0, their only two blemishes of 2017 came in their only two home matches.
Â
They'll try to turn that around this week when Stanislaus State visits for a rare midweek match Wednesday at 7 p.m., and then San Francisco State visits Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Â
CCAA Player of the Week nominee Jeremiah Egujie notched a hat trick Sunday in the Wildcats' 3–0 win at Cal State San Marcos to cap a two-win weekend. (They blanked previously unbeaten UC San Diego 2–0 Friday.) Egujie ranks 10
th in the nation with six goals, and second in Division II with a trio of game winners.
Â
The Wildcats are one of four teams tied for first in the CCAA at 2-0-0. Stanislaus State is 2-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCAA. San Francisco State is 5-0-0 and off to its best start in 75 seasons. The Gators have not played a conference match, however, and won't open CCAA play until Friday in Chico.
