Ending on a High Note at Home on Senior Day

CHICO, Calif. – Dane Peterson's early goal proved decisive as Chico State closed its regular season with a 1–0 shutout over Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at University Soccer Stadium. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 5-7-4 overall (3-4-3 CCAA), while the Lumberjacks fell to 2-12-3 (0-8-2 CCAA).

How it happened

Chico State jumped ahead in the eighth minute when Dane Peterson scored his sixth goal of the season, finishing off a corner delivered by Matthew Rajecki. Peterson tallied his sixth goal of the season, closing out his first fall with the Wildcats as the team scoring leader. Freshman defender Rajecki notched his fifth assist with the goal against the Lumberjacks, leading the team in total assists in his inaugural season at Chico State.

From there, Weston Joyner and the Chico State defense handled everything Humboldt sent their way. Joyner tallied three first-half saves en route to his third shutout of the season on senior day.

The Wildcats outshot Humboldt 7–4 and successfully fended off several second-half corners to preserve the victory.
