HAYWARD, Calif. – Despite a late goal from Caleb Gordon, Chico State couldn't overcome a two-goal deficit in a 2–1 loss to Cal State East Bay on Sunday at Chabot College. With the defeat, the Wildcats dropped to 4-7-4 overall (2-4-3 CCAA), while the Pioneers improved to 6-4-5 (4-1-4 CCAA).

How it happened
After a scoreless first half, East Bay took control after the break. Alejandro Zarate put the hosts ahead in the 51st minute, and Julian Valle doubled the advantage in the 70th.
Caleb Gordon pulled one back for Chico in the 84th minute, finishing off a cross from Matthew Rajecki to make it 2–1.
Chico goalkeeper Weston Joyner made two saves before being replaced by Dominic Miller, who stopped a penalty in the 85th to keep the Wildcats close. Despite a flurry of late corners, Chico couldn't find the equalizer.
