Wildcats take a step closer to a CCAA Championship Tournament berth

TURLOCK, Calif. - Zac Crim's team-high ninth goal of the season in the 68th minute of the match was all the Wildcats needed as they held on for the close 1-0 victory over Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock today. With the win, Chico State remains in the hunt for a spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament.

Chico State’s record stands at 12-4 overall and 8-4 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Cal State Dominguez Hills has clinched a tournament berth, while Chico State, Sonoma State, Cal State L.A., and Cal State San Bernardino are all still in the mix for the three additional spots.

Crim's goal came at 67:54 in the second half and was set up by a free kick by Kyle Crain. Crain's pass went to the right side to Adam Raish who crossed it to the far side and found Crim for the finish.

Chico keeper Michael Keohane recorded his seventh shutout of the season, making two saves in the match.

The Wildcats outshot the Warriors (3-11-1, 2-10-0 CCAA) 18-13 and took eight corner kicks to Stanislaus’ five.

Chico State wraps up the regular season next weekend with a roadtrip to Humboldt State on Friday and Sonoma State on Sunday.
