Chico State Athletics

Kyle Souza put together one of the most decorated careers in Chico State men’s golf history, earning three All-America honors and four All-CCAA selections from 2008-12.

Souza’s signature achievement came in 2011 when he captured the NCAA Division II individual championship, sinking a 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th green to secure medalist honors. He was named NCAA Division II Golfer of the Year, later earned first-team All-America honors in 2011-12, and was selected as the CCAA Male Athlete of the Year and CCAA Golfer of the Year.

As a senior, Souza won a school-record six tournaments, posted a 70.8 scoring average and tied the program record with 11 top-10 finishes. He finished his Chico State career with eight tournament victories, 22 top-five finishes and 31 top-10 finishes.

After Chico State, Souza played professionally for more than a decade, competing around the world and winning more than 30 mini-tour events, including the Northern California Open. He now lives in Santa Rosa with his wife, Maryssa, and daughter, Ava.
