Several Chico State softball players have put up big offensive numbers so far in 2020, including one right in the middle of the Wildcats’ lineup that has been causing grief for opposing pitchers since the first game of the season. Reilani Peleti enjoyed another impressive weekend at the plate in the ’Cats’ series sweep of Cal State East Bay, hitting safely in every game and knocking in seven runs to help Chico State extend its latest winning streak to seven straight. Peleti’s dominance at the dish versus the Pioneers makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.

Seemingly part of just about every Chico State scoring opportunity, Peleti batted .667 (6-for-9) in the series, with a homer and four runs scored while reaching base 10 times in 13 plate appearances (a .769 on-base percentage) and posting a 1.000 slugging percentage. Her efforts were a major factor in the No. 5 Wildcats improving to 16-1 on the season and  11-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Peleti collected a pair of hits and two RBI as the Wildcats won Friday’s doubleheader opener 8-0, then in game two went 2-for-3 and knocked in a big insurance run in a 2-0 Chico State victory. Saturday Peleti ripped a three-run homer and scored twice in game one of the twin bill as the Wildcats triumphed 10-0, and followed up with an RBI single in the nightcap in Chico State’s 10-0 series-sweeping victory.                             

Peleti and the Wildcats are in the Bay Area this weekend, taking on the Gators of San Francisco State. The four-game series begins Friday with a 12 noon doubleheader, followed by a Saturday twin bill starting at 11 a.m.
