Since her sophomore year, Chico State softball pitcher Brooke Langeloh has started each season in nearly unbeatable fashion. The senior from Escondido began last season by winning her first six decisions, and two weeks into the 2016 campaign Langeloh is sporting a perfect 4-0 record. Her weekend performance against Sonoma State ranks with Langeloh's all-time best, beating the No. 19 Seawolves twice while tossing over 13 scoreless innings. Her total command in the circle makes Langeloh the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
The numbers tell it all: the right-hander allowed no runs and gave up just seven hits in 13.2 innings of work. Langeloh struck out 14 Sonoma State batters, and Seawolves hitters batted just .149 against her over the weekend. She also notched her fifth career shutout and 24th victory as a Wildcat, putting Langeloh 10th on Chico State's all-time career wins list.
Â
Friday Langeloh gave up just three hits and fanned seven in six innings to earn the "W" in the Wildcats' 1-0 victory over Sonoma. After appearing in relief in game one of Saturday's series-ending doubleheader, Langeloh came back in the nightcap to throw a complete game three-hitter as Chico State blanked the Seawolves 5-0.
Â
Langeloh currently ranks second among all California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) pitchers in wins, earned run average (0.31) and opponent batting average (.120).
Â
Langeloh and the Wildcats return home this Friday and Saturday to take on Cal State Monterey Bay in a four-game series at University Softball Field. Â
