Those who have followed Chico State softball this season are pretty much in agreement: when Cailin Garmon is on the field, the Wildcats add an extra dimension to their attack. It was never more evident than in the crucial regular season series finale against Sonoma State, when the Sacramento product delivered at the plate, on the basepaths, in the infield and in the pitcher's circle to help lead the 'Cats to three huge weekend victories and a berth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament. Garmon's outstanding all-around play in a must-win series makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.

Garmon batted .438 (7-for-16) in the four games versus Sonoma State, scoring five runs, driving in another and stealing four bases in as many attempts. If that wasn't enough, she struck out six Seawolves in four innings of relief in the crucial series finale, earning the "W" in the Wildcats' 2-1 victory to snare the fourth and final CCAA Championship Tournament bid.

Garmon played a big role in the Wildcats' Friday doubleheader sweep of Sonoma. She notched a hit, a run and a stolen base in the 'Cats' 5-1 game one victory, then in the nightcap went 3-for-4, scored twice and swiped two bases as Chico State downed the Seawolves 8-6.

In the opener of Saturday's twin bill, Garmon racked up three more hits, then in the all-important second game scored a run and stole a base before making her big contribution in the pitcher's circle.

Garmon leads the CCAA with 46 stolen bases on the year—a Wildcat single-season record.

Garmon and the Wildcats will be at Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton Friday at 3 p.m., taking on No. 1 seed Cal State Monterey Bay in the first round of the CCAA Championship Tournament.
