As the 2019–20 season unfolded, the Chico State women's basketball team knew that Hannah Washington was going to have to deliver a career year for the Wildcats to be successful. Five games in, and the junior forward has shown she is more than equal to the challenge. Washington filled up the stat sheet and was instrumental in the 'Cats posting three wins in five days, with all the numbers adding up to the Medford, Oregon product being named the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Washington averaged 11.7 points a game, shooting 61.1 percent from the field (11-for-18) and 81.3 percent from the free throw line (13-for-16) while grabbing 7.3 rebounds a contest. She also dished out three assists and blocked a pair of shots to help the Wildcats improve to 4-1 on the season.
Washington began the week by scoring five points, hauling in a career-high 11 rebounds and blocking two shots Tuesday in Chico State's 71-47 win over Holy Names. She came up big over the weekend at the CCAA/GNAC Challenge in Rohnert Park, pouring in a career-best 17 points—11 in the pivotal fourth quarter—in the Wildcats' come-from-behind 65-61 victory Friday over Concordia (Oregon). Washington then scored 13 points Saturday as Chico State wrapped up its perfect week with a 50-46 triumph over Western Oregon.
Washington and the Wildcats open up California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play this week, hosting Stanislaus State Thursday and Cal State East Bay Saturday at Acker Gym.
