ALAMEDA, Calif. – After being Chico State's top finisher after one round at Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Monday, Trinity Hernandez returned to Corica Park on Tuesday and had the best round in her career, shooting a 71 to earn her first under par result.

The Wildcats also combined for a 28-over par result, a six stroke improvement to Monday's first round, despite dropping two spots to 16th place.

Hernandez got off to a great start from the fifth hole. She made a par-3 followed by a birdie and earning par scores in the seventh and eighth holes. Despite a mistake to start the back-9, Hernandez made up for it with her first eagle on a par-4. The lefty finished the day making the eagle, five birdies and six pars to leap her 34 spots to finish 14th overall.

Ariana Blagrove also had a better day on the course, scoring 5-over par to jump her 10 spots to 62nd overall. She made three birdies and earned par scores nine times. Brooke Pelletier went 10-over par despite making one birdie and making par eight times, Hollyn Drennen finished 14-over with seven even par holes and Alexis Elliot rounded out the Wildcats with a 15-over scorecard. She had a run of making par six of seven straight holes.

The host Pioneers, who was in a tie with Biola after the first round, ended up taking the tournament after scoring a 4-over combination in the second round, winning the shootout 7-over. Cal State San Marcos' Madison Murr shared first place with Cal State LA's Daniela Andrade but did win the one-hole playoff to take the medalist honor.

Chico State will be back in action March 17-18 when it participates in Dallas Baptist's Patriot Invitational held at The Quail in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
