ALAMEDA – Last year, the Chico State women's golf team couldn't finish the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout because of poor weather conditions. On Tuesday, the weather was good enough for Wildcats were able to get a full round in on the final day of Cal State East Bay's tournament and place 14th in the end.

The Wildcats combined for a score of 322 in their second trip through Corica Park, a five-stroke improvement to Monday's result.

Brooke Pelletier was the top finisher in Tuesday's round, scoring a 77. She was near perfect in the front-9 and was able to make par six times in the back. Overall, she came up even in 14 holes.

Kaylie Parola, who finished with a 76 on Monday, turned in a 78 to combine her score at 154 and place herself in a tie for 27th place. She came up with par in 10 holes and wrapped up the tournament with a birdie in the par-4 18.

Trinity Hernandez carded an 81. Despite struggling on three different holes, Hernandez kept her score down thanks to par-4 birdies on holes two and 18 while making par 10 times.

Ariana Blagrove had an 86, get par results in six holes while making a birdie on a par 4. Kelly More rounded out the team scoring with an 88. She made par five times and birdied at the par-5 15th hole.

Challyse Gumataotao, competing as an independent, finished with a 94 result. Her best score was the par-5 17th hole, which she made birdie.

The host Pioneers made the leap over round-one leader Cal State LA to take the tournament win. The Golden Eagles' Morgan Sjoerdsma maintained her lead and won medalist honors with a 5-under 139.

Following a week off next week, Chico State will have a busy schedule the week of March 11 as it will play in two tournaments starting with Cal State San Marcos' Fujikura Invitational at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista. Following a day off, the Wildcats will head to Palm Desert to partake the Augustana Spring Fling, which is serving as a substitute tournament to the washed out Cal State LA Spring Kickoff earlier this month.
