Unlike the last two meets that were at Chico State University Stadium this season, the Chico Invitational was one you wanted to be at weather-wise.
While the Wildcat men's track & field team got cold and at times showers at their last two meets at home, the Chico Invitational got good weather and above all 13 personal bests, including another NCAA provisional mark from Parker Williams.
Having already met the NCAA's standard in the 110-meter hurdles at the Mark Conover Classic last month, Williams used his home track by running a 14.35 to beat his personal best by .10 seconds to further solidify that provisional mark. It is also a lifetime best for the sophomore.
Some Wildcats came close to earning provisional status. In the long jump, Adam Kasten reached 7.21 meters but came up 0.06 meters short. In the 400-meter dash, Vincent Rinaldi and Demetre Coffey were both under a second from reaching the event's mark.
The Wildcats get to enjoy the following weekend off before heading to Cal State San Marcos for the CCAA Track & Field Championships, which will be held May 4-6.
