MARYSVILLE – Even a slight, and yet unexpected, change to the schedule didn't seem to bother the student-athletes on the Chico State men's track & field team. Just when the 'Cats were going to get the two weekends off instead of one because of the cancellation of Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational, the coaches got all competitors into the Yuba College-hosted Wildcat Cup Invitational.
Sixteen Wildcats set new personal bests while eight had made debuts in new events, including Peyton Allworth, who won the pole vault Friday, and Hunter Dougherty, who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in his debut.
Ty Thomson and Adam Kasten both used personal marks to win the 200-meter dash and long jump, respectively.
Also winning their events are Patrick Roehling in the 800-meter run, Parker Williams in the 110-meter hurdles and Giovanni Larrea in the 400-meter hurdles.
The 'Cats will now have a weekend off before adventuring to San Francisco State for the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on March 31-April 1.
