Ask any of the players that make up the current edition of the Chico State women's basketball team, and they'll tell you the exact same thing—the start of the new season can't come soon enough. After 18 long months, Head Coach Brian Fogel has successfully put the band back together, and with the release of the official 2021–22 schedule, a hungry group of Wildcat hoopsters is one step closer to returning to competitive action this fall.
Following a pair of October exhibition games against Oregon Tech and the University of San Francisco, the 'Cats officially lift the lid on the 2021–22 season November 12–13, when they host the four-team CCAA/PacWest Challenge at Acker Gym. On Friday the 12th, Sonoma State will play Dominican at 5:30 p.m., followed by Chico State taking on Fresno Pacific at 7:30 p.m. Sonoma State and Fresno Pacific square off at 1 p.m. on Saturday the 13th, with the Wildcats matching up against Dominican at 3 p.m.
The Wildcats will travel to Oakland Tuesday, November 16 for an afternoon contest against Holy Names, then head up to Monmouth, Oregon that weekend for the two-day CCAA/GNAC Challenge. Friday, November 19 Chico State faces host school Western Oregon, and match up with Saint Martin's Saturday, November 20.
Chico State begins California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play with three straight road tilts, battling Stanislaus State on Saturday, November 27; Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, December 2, and Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday, December 4.
The 'Cats are back in Acker Gym to host Sonoma State Saturday, December 11 and Humboldt State Saturday, December 18 before pausing for a two-week holiday break. Chico State ushers in the New Year Sunday, January 2 with a 1 p.m. home contest vs. Stanislaus State.
The Wildcats have just two other home games scheduled in January: Thursday the 13th against Cal State San Marcos, and Saturday the 15th versus Cal State LA.
February features no less than six Wildcat contests at Acker Gym. Chico State opens a four-game homestand against Cal Poly Pomona Thursday February 3, followed by Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, February 5; Cal State Monterey Bay on Thursday, February 10, and San Francisco State Saturday, February 12.
The 'Cats play their final home games of the 2021–22 season Thursday, February 24 against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Saturday, February 26 versus Cal State East Bay.
