Road Opportunities Await Women’s Soccer

Hoping to pick up good results at Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State Dominguez Hills this weekend

The task is daunting. In 12 matches to open California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play last weekend, not a single road team came back home with a win. But the Chico State women's soccer team doesn't mind a road trip. Already 2-0-1 away from home this season, the Wildcats will take their first conference road tests at Cal State Monterey Bay Friday at 7 p.m. and at Cal State Dominguez Hills Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Both matches can be viewed for free on the CCAA Network.

Chico State, which leads the CCAA with 22 goals scored and ranks tied for fourth with only six allowed, is 5-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play following a win and tie last weekend at home. The Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the West Region.

Susanna Garcia and Madison Parsons are among six players tied atop the conference standings with four goals apiece. Natalie Mendoza is tied for the conference lead with four assists. And Camille Lidster leads the CCAA with 28 shot attempts.

Cal State Monterey Bay is 3-2-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCAA after opening conference play with a scoreless draw at Stanislaus State and 2-0 defeat at Cal State East Bay. The Otters are ranked No. 8 in the West. Cal State Dominguez Hills is 3-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the CCAA following a 3-2 double-overtime loss at Cal State East Bay and 2-0 loss at Stanislaus State.
