Help Pack the Pantry by bringing a donation to Sunday’s match

The Chico State women's soccer team is 6-2-2. Cal State East Bay is 6-2-2, too. The two teams duel Thursday in Hayward at 4:30 to open week three of the California Collegiate Athletic Association schedule. The Wildcats return to face Stanislaus State at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, which is also Pack the Pantry Day at University Soccer Stadium. Visitors to University Soccer Stadium are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry.

The last time Chico State faced Cal State East Bay, the Pioneers twice overcome one-goal deficits, eventually winning the 2019 meeting in overtime to knock the Wildcats out of postseason contention. The Wildcats will also be looking exact some revenge on Stanislaus State, which rallied from a goal down at halftime to beat the Wildcats 2-1 the last time these teams met.

Both matches—the first half of women's/men's soccer doubleheaders—will be viewable on the CCAA Network. Links to that and live stats are available on the homepage and women's soccer schedule page.

Chico State is 3-1-1 at home and 3-1-1 on the road. The Wildcats are currently in third place in the CCAA at 2-1-1. Cal State East Bay, 3-2-1 at home, is in second place in the CCAA at 3-0-1. Stanislaus State is 0-3-1 on the road and 1-1-2 in the CCAA.

The Wildcats lead the CCAA in scoring average (2.30 goals per match) and shots (17.3 per match). The Wildcats' defense is in the middle of the road among conference teams at 0.90 goals allowed per match. Madison Parsons and Susanna Garcia are among seven players leading the CCAA with four goals apiece, while Natalie Mendoza leads the conference with four assists.

Pack The Pantry Information
The Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry—the front door of Chico State's vital Basic Needs Project—is busier than ever. Chico State students, including some student-athletes, are relying more than ever on the program for food and other basic needs. Thanks to the generosity of the entire Wildcat Family, the Department of Athletics has been able to proudly champion the efforts of the Pantry and its awesome leadership since 2013. It has become an annual focus of support.

This weekend marks another opportunity to help. Tables will be set up to accept donations during Friday's volleyball match and Sunday's soccer games. All donations are accepted and appreciated. However, the Pantry aims to stock up on nutritious foods and items to support our Wildcats:
  • Canned proteins (chicken, fish, beans, lentils)
  • Canned soups
  • Nutritious snacks/meal replacements (protein bars)
  • Fresh produce
  • Personal hygiene products, especially tampons and sanitary napkins
Thanks to everyone on campus and in the community for giving generously to a cause that we care deeply about!
The Pantry strives to provide a wide assortment of healthy, student-friendly food products and specializes in distributing local, farm-direct, organic produce and foods. The Pantry also provides hygiene and kitchen items.

This academic year the Pantry will distribute more than 50 tons of food to an estimated 4,000 students. Currently about two-thirds of the shelf stable food provided is strategically purchased through food bank and wholesale channels. The remaining is donated through the Chico Food Project, annual food drives, food rescue and direct donations. Organic and sustainably grown produce is purchased through the University Farm's Organic Vegetable Project and other regional produce distributors.
