Wildcats hoping Saturday is cause for celebration before and after the match

Seniors Abbie Jones and Aiden Williams to be honored prior to regular-season finale

11/6/2019 5:29:00 PM

Saturday at approximately 1:50 p.m., just prior to the Chico State women's soccer team's regular-season finale, seniors Abbie Jones and Aiden Williams will be celebrated by their teammates, coaching staff, families and loved ones, and the Wildcats' fans. After the match, the Wildcats hope to be celebrating their third consecutive postseason berth.

Chico State enters the final week of California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action in the thick of a wild eight-team scramble for the final three CCAA Tournament berths.

The Wildcats, 8-7-1 overall and 4-6-0 in the CCAA, host Cal State East Bay (5-8-3, 4-5-1) Thursday at 7 p.m. and Cal State Monterey Bay (8-7-1, 3-7-0) Saturday at 2 p.m. They would lock up a CCAA Tournament bid with two wins. Anything less and they would be at the mercy of other teams around the conference.

Chico State has lost its last four games, but three of those setbacks have come at the hands of nationally and/or regionally-ranked squads. They hope to turn that around against an East Bay team they've gone 9-0-1 against in their last 10 meetings.

The Wildcats are 15-3-0 all-time against Cal State Monterey Bay, including 8-1-0 at home.
