Things are rarely easy on the road in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Chico State women's soccer team faces an especially stiff challenge this weekend when it faces Humboldt State and Sonoma State on the road.
Â
The Wildcats face a motivated Humboldt State team Friday at 12:30 p.m. in Arcata, and then 17
th ranked Sonoma State Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
Â
Chico State enters the weekend with a record of 5-3-0, including 2-2-0 in CCAA play. The Wildcats are just 1-3 away from home, however, and understand that needs to change if they are going to make a postseason push.
Â
They'll attempt to begin the turnaround this weekend. But it won't be easy.
Â
Humboldt State will certainly be discussing the 5–1 trouncing Chico State laid on the Lumberjacks in last season's finale. That, coupled with a desire to get back near the top of the CCAA table, gives the Lumberjacks (4-3-1, 0-2-1 CCAA) plenty to play for.
Â
Sonoma State has started the season 8-1 (2-1 CCAA) to move up to No. 17 in the nation. The Seawolves lead the conference with 17 goals and have allowed a CCAA-low three.
Â
The Wildcats will be motivated as well. Following a pair of impressive home wins last weekend, they will be back in Chico for five in a row following these two matches. A good result or two would put them in prime position to make a postseason charge.Â
