The two weekends of the soccer season have featured two different Chico State men's soccer teams. The first was an explosive, cohesive squad that left the Pacific Northwest with impressive victories over Seattle Pacific and Western Washington looking like one of the top teams in the nation. The second was a disjointed and discouraged group that lost twice at home.
With week one of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule beginning Friday, the Wildcats are hoping to return to the form of that first weekend quickly.
Six CCAA teams will advance to the postseason, and a strong start this weekend would set up the Wildcats nicely.
UC San Diego is the defending CCAA Champion and picked by the coaches to win the title once again in 2017. Chico State was picked to finish sixth. The Tritons are 2-0-2 and have already played three overtime games. Match time for that one is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The Wildcats are at Cal State San Marcos Sunday at 2 p.m. Cal State San Marcos has produced a 2-1-1 mark thus far.
