The Chico State men's soccer team remains the lone unbeaten and unscored upon side in California Collegiate Athletic Association action heading into its second half of conference play. But it faces two stiff tests this weekend when Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Bernardino come to town this weekend.
Â
Those results will either help clear up or cloud the Wildcats' CCAA Tournament outlook.
Â
Chico State is 7-3-1 overall, 5-0-1 in the CCAA, and ranked No. 3 in the West Region and No. 23 in the nation by the United Soccer Coaches. With 16 points, the Wildcats sit fourth in the CCAA table but still control their conference fate with at least one match in hand against the teams they trail. Cal State Dominguez Hills (6-1-0) and Cal Poly Pomona (6-2-0) lead the way with 18 points apiece, and UC San Diego (5-1-2) sits third with 17 points.
Â
Cal State San Bernardino (5-3-0) is fifth with 15 points, while San Francisco State (3-1-2) and Cal State LA (3-2-2) are the only other teams that have reached double figures.

Â
The top six teams in the final CCAA standings will advance to the opening segment of the postseason—the CCAA Tournament.
Â
The Wildcats and goalkeeper Damion Lewis have shut out their first six conference opponents to stretch their in-conference unbeaten streak to 11 matches. They will play their next four at home (all during a 10-day span that begins Friday) before finishing the regular season on the road at Cal State Dominguez Hills at Cal State LA.
Â
Chico State will host Cal Poly Pomona Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Broncos enter play with an overall record of 10-3-0 and feature the highest-scoring offense in the CCAA, having outscored their conference opposition 20–5. But they will play three straight on the road beginning Friday and enter the weekend only 2-2-0 away from home.
Â
The match will feature two of the top strikers in Division II. Cal Poly Pomona's Sergi Monso leads the CCAA with 15 goals and seven assists. Chico State Jeremiah Egujie leads the conference in shots and has tallied seven goals.
Â
Cal State San Bernardino is 7-6-0 heading into the weekend. The Coyotes will open the weekend at Stanislaus State Friday afternoon, beginning a four-match road swing to wrap up their regular season. They are 2-4-0 away from home.
