Play four straight and six of last eight at University Soccer Stadium, beginning Friday

Lao Tzu once said: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

The Chico State women's soccer team has a long way to climb to get into the California Collegiate Athletic Association postseason picture. This weekend they hope to take the first steps when they host Cal State San Bernardino Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Cal Poly Pomona Sunday morning at 11:30.

After an exciting 4-0-1 start, the Wildcats opened CCAA play with four straight losses on the road. Beginning Friday, they're home for four straight and six of their last eight. They hope to use that home-pitch advantage to turn the fortunes of this season back around. The Wildcats are 3-0-0 at home.

Links to live stats and streaming video for every match this season are available on the calendar section on the Chico State athletics homepage, www.chicowildcats.com, and on the women's soccer schedule page.

Cal State San Bernardino enters Friday's showdown with a record of 3-5-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the CCAA. The Coyotes are winless in three road matches.

Cal Poly Pomona is 3-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the CCAA. THe Broncos are 2-3-0 away from home.

While winning a couple of matches and getting back into the postseason mix is the Wildcats' primary goal this weekend, a pair of individuals have a chance to keep climbing up the program's career goal, assist and point lists. With her 18th career goal at UC San Diego Sunday, Senior Lindsey Dias moved into a tie for 10th on the program's list with Katherine Bagwell (2004-07) and is now just one point shy of catching Bagwell and recent Chico State Athletics Hall of Fame selection Denise (Butticci) Peck for 10th in career points. Junior Pooja Patel's career assist total, meanwhile, is at 15. Her next helper will tie her with Carly Singer (2010-13) for eighth all time.
