At halftime of the first game of the season the Chico State women's soccer team found itself trailing 1-0 at California Baptist. The Wildcats have not allowed a goal since, outscoring opponents 10-0 in the process.

They rallied to win that first match 2-1, starting a string of five straight without a loss to start the season for the first time since 1998. At 4-0-1, Chico State has risen to No. 13 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll, and No. 2 in the West Region.

This weekend, the Wildcats will take their dominating defense and multi-pronged offensive attack on the road to open California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play at San Francisco State (Friday at 3 p.m.) and Cal State Monterey Bay (Sunday at 11:30 a.m.).

Prior to that, San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay will lock horns Wednesday afternoon.

Runner-ups in the CCAA each of the past two seasons, the Wildcats are in search of their first conference title since 2007.

If they keep playing like they have, they'll certainly have a chance.

Chico State's four shutouts are tied for most in the nation and its team goals-against average of 0.184 ranks ninth. Goalkeeper Caitlyn Duval's 0.184 goals-against-average ranks 13
th in the nation. The top 12 in that category have yet to allow a goal. And Shelby Lanksbury's two game-winning goals ranks first in the CCAA and fifth in the nation.

San Francisco State heads into Wednesday's matchup with Cal State Monterey Bay with a record of 2-1-1. Cal State Monterey Bay is off to a 2-1-0 start.
