Having played six of its first seven matches of 2015 on the road, the Chico State men's soccer team is finally home for two straight this weekend. And these two matches provide the team with a great opportunity to use that home-pitch advantage to add to their recent momentum.
The Wildcats are 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). But they're 3-1-1 in their last five matches and had won three straight before losing Sunday at Sonoma State.
They'll host Cal State East Bay Friday at 7 p.m. and Stanislaus State Sunday at 2 p.m. Both matches will wrap up doubleheaders, with the Chico State women's team playing first.
Friday is also Faculty/Staff appreciation night. Chico State faculty and staff can get up to four free passes simply by coming by the main office in Acker Gym 135.
Cal State East Bay is 2-6-0 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA heading into Wednesday night's match at Stanislaus State, which is 8-1 overall and 3-1 in the CCAA.
Matt Hurlow is the program's active career leader with 15 goals and six assists. The senior scored the match winning PK at Humboldt State last Friday to lead the Wildcats to a victory in their conference opener.
Omar Nuno leads the 2015 Wildcats with four goals, while Carter Johnson and Rajaee DeLane have dished out two assists apiece.
Following this weekend, the Wildcats will play four straight on the road before returning home for four in a row to wrap up the regular season.
