Wildcats take on Cal State L.A. Sunday

Box Score CARSON – A close inspection of the box score from Friday night's California Collegiate Athletic Association opener between 5th-ranked Chico State and longtime rival Cal State Dominguez Hills reveals the words "clear and chill" in the space for the weather description.

"Chill" has never accurately described a match between these two teams and it certainly didn't Friday night in the host Toros' 1-0 win at the StubHub Center.

Cal State Dominguez Hills' Joey Chica scored in the 85th minute, sending the Wildcats to their first defeat of the season, ending a 5-0-1 start to the campaign.

The match was ripe with whistles as 31 fouls were called and the Wildcats were booked for four of the night's five yellow cards.

Chico State goalkeeper Luke Dennison denied Dominguez Hills six times before the Toros' final shot of the night found the back of the net.

The Wildcats will attempt to rebound Sunday against Cal State L.A. at 11:30 a.m.
