The race for the California Collegiate Athletic Association title and its six postseason conference tournament berths is off to an epic start. Eleven of the 12 teams have a record of .500 or better and Cal State L.A. is the only team that hasn't sustained a conference loss through four games.

The Chico State women, 5-3-1 overall, are 2-1-1 and in fourth place in conference play entering a weekend road trip that will take them to Humboldt State Friday and Sonoma State Sunday. Friday's match will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday's at 2 p.m.

Humboldt State is 6-4 overall, but only 1-3 in conference play. Sonoma State, meanwhile, is 10-1 overall, 3-1 in the CCAA, and ranked No. 15 in the nation.

With seven points (teams receive three for each win and one for each tie), the Wildcats trail only Cal State L.A. (12), Cal State Stanislaus (9) and Sonoma State (9). However, three teams loom just one point back.
