’Cats 7th in the region, host crucial games this weekend

Celebrate the senior class Sunday

That's the biggest news around the Wildcats' team even though Senior Day comes Sunday.

With their California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championship Tournament and NCAA Championship Tournament hopes on the line, the Wildcats host San Francisco State Friday at 4:30, Cal State Monterey Bay Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and Cal State San Bernardino next Thursday at 7 p.m. to wrap up the regular season.

Chico State is 8-4-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Wildcats are currently in third place in the CCAA, but have hopes of possibly leaping Sonoma State into second place, which net them a first-round bye in the Conference Championship Tournament.

The team's five seniors – Brianna Furner, Halima Abdelshife, Stephanie Vaquerano, Torri Sims and Megan Tabler – make up one of the program's most talented senior classes to date. They will be honored in a ceremony prior to Sunday's match.
