Sometimes it feels like the years are flying by. It seems like yesterday that Carly Singer, Danielle Leiva and Scotie Walker led the Chico State women's soccer team to its first ever NCAA Championships Final Four. Along with Gail Bassett, they will be playing the final home match of their careers Sunday at University Soccer Stadium.
It's hard to fathom.
Those four seniors will lead the Wildcats against Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday at 4:30 and Cal State L.A. Sunday at 11:30. The Senior Day ceremony is scheduled to start at 11:15 Sunday, so make sure to arrive early.
This hasn't been the season that foursome envisioned. Injuries and hard luck have taken a toll and the Wildcats are 5-7-2 overall and 3-7-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with four matches to play. However, a strong late-season push could put the Wildcats back in postseason contention. Chico State is currently seven points out of a CCAA Championship Tournament spot (teams earn 3 points for a win and one for a tie).
