The Chico State men's soccer team is entering the home stretch of the of the 2013 season in good position. But there's still a lot of jockeying to be done.
At 11-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), the Wildcats lead the South Division and are No. 2 in the NCAA Regional Rankings released Wednesday. The top six teams in the final NCAA Regional rankings will represent the West in the NCAA Championship Tournament.
The Wildcats can't afford to rest on their laurels, however. They host West Region No. 5 Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday at 7 p.m. and West Region No. 1 Cal State L.A. Sunday at 2 p.m.
Chico State currently leads Cal State L.A. by one point in the South Division Standings, UC San Diego by two points, and Cal State Dominguez Hills is lurking seven points behind.
Sunday won't just be big for the Wildcats in terms of ranking, either. Eleven seniors will be honored prior to the match, which will mark their last regular-season appearance at University Soccer Stadium.
