Wildcats face No. 2 Sonoma State on road Friday

Take on Humboldt State Sunday to wrap important North Division weekend

ROHNERT PARK – If early-season results are any indication, Sonoma State looms as a major threat to the Chico State women’s soccer program’s quest for its seventh California Collegiate Athletic Association North Division title in nine years. The Wildcats get their first of two opportunities to take on the CCAA North Division leaders Friday afternoon in Rohnert Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30.

The host Seawolves have climbed all the way to No. 2 in the nation thanks to a dominant 6-0 start (4-0 CCAA) in which they’ve outscored their opponents by a combined 20-3. Chico State hits the road for the first time in 2012 ranked No. 8 in the West. The Wildcats are 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the CCAA.

The Wildcats have actually fared very well of late versus nationally ranked teams. They’re unbeaten in their last seven such affairs (4-0-3) dating back to early last season.

Chico State wraps up its weekend on the road Sunday at Humboldt State. The Lumberjacks enter Friday’s matchup with Cal State Stanislaus with a record of 0-2.
