The final brick has been placed in the illustrious women’s soccer career built by Kasey Wall during her five seasons at Chico State. Wall was recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-West Region First Team on Friday. Teammate Denni Jo Berger earned honorable mention as well.
Wall earned Second Team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and Third Team All-West Region awards in December while leading the Wildcats to their first ever trip to the Final Four. The communications major is also a three time CCAA All-Academic honoree and two time DII Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement award winner.
A product of Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, Wall saw action in each of the Wildcats’ 87 matches over the past four years, starting 71 times. She finished with career totals of six goals and four assists while playing all over the field over the course of her career.
Berger, a two time CCAA All-Academic sele
ction and DII Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement award winner in 2010-11, was also a major factor in the Wildcats’ historic postseason run. The midfielder saw action in 24 matches, starting 12, and knocked home crucial penalty kick during the Wildcats’ wild shootout victory over Cal State L.A. for the West Region title. The junior liberal studies major from Claremont is one of four soon-to-be seniors expected to lead the Wildcats next season. She boasts career totals of four goals and five assists.
