Wildcats fighting for Final Four berth; See it live!

LOS ANGELES - UPDATE - The match is set to restart at approximately 3:35 following an almost hour-long weather delay. The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead on Alyx Willia'ms' 14th-minute goal. Kasey Wall notched the assist.

Following a frustrating 5-5-3 start, Chico State women's soccer coach Kim Sutton had to ask her seniors to stop talking about their dreams of a plane ride to Pensacola, Fla., for the Final Four. The expecations were becoming too much for her team to bear. Now, there's no subject the Wildcats would rather disucss. UPDATE - The live video feed is apparently spotty today in L.A. To stay abreast of the action, like the Chico State Facebook Fan Page for updates every few minutes and any goal.

Sunday at 2 p.m., the West Region champion Wildcats face South Central Region winners Abilene Christian in the NCAA Championship Tournament Quarterfinals with a spot in the Final Four on the line. Fans can follow the action live via streaming video and live stats by clicking this link.

Chico State, seeded No. 5 in the West, is the highest seed still remaining in the tournament. The Wildcats (12-6-5) knocked off 4th-seeded Cal State Stanislaus in the opening round, No. 1 seed UC San Diego in the second round, and Friday, finished the season of No. 2 seed Cal State L.A. on its home pitch.

Now the only team that stands between the Wildcats and the Final Four is Abilene Christian, the top-seed from the South Central Region. Also nicknamed the Wildcats, Abilene Christian is 20-1-1 on the season after beating Dallas Baptist 2-1 in overtime Friday.

Chico State has already advanced further than any team in the program's history. But the Wildcats are certainly not satisfield.

"We've already made history," said Sutton. "But we really want to take advantage of this opportunity. You can never take for granted getting to this point. It's just so tough to make it out of the West. So we're really hoping to take advantage of this chance."

The winner of today's match will take on either Colorado-Mines or Grand Valley State on Dec. 1 in Pensecola at a time yet to be determined.
