Wildcats can't find the net in scoreless tie at East Bay

HAYWARD, Calif. – If the Chico State women’s soccer team was made up of fish, Sunday would have been their lucky day. They aren’t, though, so it didn’t feel lucky when the failed to find the back of the net. Instead it was a frustrating day for the Wildcats, who played to a scoreless draw at Cal State East Bay.

The Wildcats peppered the Pioneers’ goal with 20 shots, but 10 missed the frame and 10 more were saved by Cal State East Bay goalkeeper Nina Cefalo.

Fortunately for the Wildcats, true freshman goalkeeper Megan Foster was awesome in her first career start, making five saves on Cal State East Bay’s 13 shots for the shutout.

Chico State is now 6-7-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) with four games still to play.

The Wildcats host three of their final four games during a six-day stretch beginning Friday night with a showdown with San Francisco State at 4:30 p.m. They play Cal State Monterey Bay Sunday and Cal State Stanislaus Wednesday, Oct. 27. They’ll wrap up the regular season at Cal State Stanislaus Friday, Oct. 30.
