CHICO - Junior Emese Grek scored her first goal of the season seven minutes into the match against Academy of Art University on Saturday night and Melissa Lindsay added a goal with eight minutes remaining in the contest to give the Wildcats a 2-0 victory and a 2-0 record on the season.

Abbey Strech assisted on Grek's goal, pushing the ball through a crowded midfield. Grek gathered it , forcing the keeper out, and shot it on the floor into the far corner.

Lindsay's goal came on a long cross from the left side off the foot of freshman Dara Karnofsky, which Lindsay forced it into the goal from straight on.

Although just a combined 12 total fouls were given in the game, it was a physical match with five cards issued, including a red card which left the Urban Knights down a player for the final 36 minutes of the contest.

Wildcat keepers Natalie Bensky and Lauren Vance combined on the shutout, extending Chico's streak of not allowing a goal, dating back to last season, to 555 minutes. Vance had the only Wildcat save of the night.

Chico out shot Academy of Art 15-3 and generated nine corner kicks to the Urban Knights' none.

The Wildcats wrap up their third match in five days against Northwest Nazarene on Monday morning at 11 a.m.
