Several members of the Chico State women’s track & field team turned in outstanding achievements at the Sacramento State Invitational, but Chloe Taylor delivered superlative performances in no less than four events on the wind-swept Saturday. The freshman found herself in the winner’s circle three times at Hornet Stadium, and before the day was done had posted two personal best marks. That kind of productivity makes Taylor an easy choice for Wildcat of the Week.
Taylor started the day teaming with Mckenzie Blair, Savannah Bailey, and Nadia Torkman to take top honors in the Sac State Invite’s 4x100-meter relay. The winning time of 48.32 seconds was the quartet’s fastest time this season, and the fourth best in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) this season.
Taylor notched a personal best time of 15.48 seconds on the way to a 10th place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Two hours later, she scored another PR and finished first in the 400-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 1:03.85.
Taylor wrapped up the Sacramento State Invitational as one-fourth of Chico State’s winning 4x400-meter relay team, combining with Bailey, Kaitlyn Gonzales, and Danielle Bacon to finish first with a time of 3:59.38.
Taylor and the Chico State women’s track & field team are in Southern California this week to compete in a pair of meets. The Wildcats will be in Azusa Wednesday through Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, and the Long Beach Invitational Friday and Saturday.
