Growing up in nearby Orland, Annie Belter excelled in just about every sport she competed in at Hamilton High School, starring for the Braves in volleyball, basketball, and track & field. Her natural athleticism has followed her to Chico State, and the Wildcat women’s track & field team is already benefiting from her numerous skills. In her very first college meet, Belter flashed that star potential at the Chico Multi-Event Classic, and her ninth place finish makes her the latest Wildcat of the Week.
Â
Belter finished the two-day competition as Chico State’s top multi performer, racking up 3,141 points over the seven heptathlon events at University Stadium.
Â
Belter began the Chico Multi-Event Classic with a seventh place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 18.09 seconds. She then earned a share of fifth place in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.43 meters. Later in the day she placed eighth in the shot put (7.73 meters) and 12th in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a time of 30.15 seconds.
Â
In day two of competition, Belter started with a seventh place finish in the long jump (4.70 meters). After posting a throw of 18.28 meters in the javelin, she wrapped up the heptathlon on a strong note with a seventh place showing in the 800-meter run (2:43.96).
Â
Belter and the rest of the Chico State women’s track & field team are back in action this Friday and Saturday in the first team meet of the season. The Wildcats will be in Turlock to compete at the Stanislaus State-hosted Kim Duyst Invitational.
